As part of FAM trip after the Andhra Pradesh ADTOI National Travel Mart I opted for Araku Valley because of my curiosity towards ‘Forest Tourism’ for exploring and experiencing the exciting form of tourism. At the same time, my imagination was clear that visiting   Bora Caves would be the perfect example for exploring the unexplored area in Araku Valley. The Bus carrying a bunch of Journals and other members stopped near Bora Caves. Our designated group leader after a brief intro said that the zigzag path of 500 meters upward and 500 meters downward before you reach Bora Caves. It might take more than 2 hours for visiting the caves.  About 10-15 members got down the bus and headed towards caves. After entering the caves we all were scattered here and there and it was difficult to be in touch with  the others due to huge rush and poor mobile connectivity.

When faith, myth, mystery and legendary stories merge seamlessly the mind is fully charged to visit Bora Caves. The main entrance is at an altitude of 705 meters above sea level. The depth of the caves is about 600 meters downwards.   William King a British Geologist discovered during 1807. The entire scenario inside the caves presents a colorful world which registers an everlasting memory on the mind of visitors.

Bora caves were formed as a result of the flow of Gosthani River on the lime stone deposits.  These caves are known for Stalactite and Stalagmite formations depicting various mythological figures like Shia Parvati, Rishi’s Beard, Crocodile, Tiger and Cows udder.  The track inside the caves is beautifully lit with yellow, blue, green and red colored lights which take you to another world of fantasy.

There is a natural Shiva Linga on the top of Caves and is woven with several ancient legends as narrated by Vizagites .

A must visit destination in Araku Valley, Vizag , Andhra Pradesh.

Honestly I was last to return to our bus and had to bear the wrath of my colleagues who kept on waiting for me for over one hour or so they  had to skip the lunch because my late arrival.  I felt extremely sorry for them and agreed for an evening party.
