Beyond Poll Promises and Manifestoes; Sham Lal Bansal (BJP) has an edge over Sudha Bhardwaj (Congress), Municipal Corporation Panchkula Elections 2026, Developing Story – Mayor Panchkula
The Voice of Chandigarh
Small Public Rallies in Sector parks, Nukkar Meetings and door to door visits by the contesting candidates and supporters with pamphlets of Manifestoes and convincing the voters is at its peak. But one thing is clear that the urban voters this time are intelligent enough to understand the fact that whom to vote. The first time voters are more inquisitive to know what will be the real progress and development on ground.
Generally speaking the voters say that manifestoes of congress and BJP have the same points and issues to be resolved. These are somewhat similar to during the last Municipal Corporation Elections.

Majority of the candidates don’t have the answer but they only smile and move ahead. The residents say that the issue of sewerage and sanitation in the city has never been up to the mark in ward number 3 ( Sectors 7 and 8) The problem of water logging still persists despite spending huge amount of laying the storm water pipe.
Garbage lifting is again an unresolved problem; the dumping ground in sector 23 with mountain of garbage has become the symbol of traffic signal while going towards trance Ghaghar Sectors.
Congress Manifesto
During release of Manifesto Rao Narinder Singh said that our manifesto is not merely a document of collections of promises but a concrete road map of comprehensive development of Panchkua. Our manifesto includes Cyber Hub, Infra Upgrade and transparent governance.
BJP Manifesto
Smart City and Administrative Infra, improvement in Sewerage and Sanitation Services Better door to door lifting of garbage in a systematic manner, constructing of new bridges on Ghaghar River.
Preventing water logging and proper management of water disposal in sectors, to upgrade sports infra structure and complete digitalization’s of services. The manifesto is studded with several other loud promises which may or may not be implemented.
The outcome of political prediction of any election is always deceptive and surprising. The Team of The Voice of Chandigarh spoke to the contesting candidates and residents of various sectors of and sought their views. The urban voter is inclined towards the BJP whereas the colony areas and villages have shown their favors towards Congress. When asked the reasons from the residents they were reluctant to come forward to reply.
The political observation of our team after visiting several areas clearly predicts that the voters again want to rely upon the BJP with a hope that development of Panchkula City will be expected to be better. Keeping the present conditions in view, henceforth BJP has an upper edge as compared to Congress.
