The Voice of Chandigarh

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results of Senior Secondary and Secondary classes. The overall pass percentage of Government Senior Secondary Schools of U.T. Chandigarh stands at 87.25%, as compared to 88.79% last year, reflecting a marginal decline of 1.54 percentage points.

The overall CBSE pass percentage at the national level stands at 85.2%, which is lower by 3.19 percentage points as compared to last year’s 88.39%. The pass percentage of Government Schools of U.T. Chandigarh is therefore higher than the overall CBSE pass percentage by 2.05 percentage points.

Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, congratulated the students, teachers and parents on the commendable performance and conveyed his best wishes for the future endeavours of the students.

The decline in the overall pass percentage at both the national and UT level may be attributed to stricter and competency-based evaluation practices, greater emphasis on conceptual understanding under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and the introduction of digital evaluation of answer sheets through On-Screen Marking (OSM). The trend reflects a gradual shift from rote learning towards application-based assessment.
