Chandigarh Government School Hosts U.S. Fulbright Teacher Delegation

Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 38 (West), DMC, Chandigarh, has been selected to host a delegation of teachers from the United States under the prestigious Fulbright Program – Teachers for Global Classrooms, following a rigorous national selection process.

Only seven institutions from across India have been shortlisted for the programme, including DPS Bengaluru, Kotak Mahindra Education Foundation (Mumbai), The Scindia School (Gwalior), St. Joseph Higher Secondary School (Thiruvananthapuram), SCERT Telangana, Government High School (Kolkata), and GMSSS, Sector 38 (West), DMC, Chandigarh. Under the leadership of Principal Ms. Neerja Jain, the school has earned the distinction of representing Chandigarh in this prestigious international academic exchange programme.

A three-member delegation of teachers from the United States arrived at GMSSS, Sector 38 (West), DMC on 17 July 2026 and will remain at the school till 23 July 2026. The week-long programme aims to promote collaboration between Indian and American educators through the exchange of innovative teaching practices, classroom strategies, and global educational perspectives.

During their visit, the delegation is experiencing the school’s skill education initiatives, including Beauty and Wellness, Art, Kalamkari, Pichwai, Mandala Art, Sculpture and Block Printing. The visiting teachers are also conducting a capacity-building workshop for 40 teachers from Government schools of Chandigarh.

The delegation interacted with Nitish Singla, Director School Education, Chandigarh Administration. They were also given presentations at Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) on the Indian education system and the best practices adopted by Government schools in Chandigarh. The visiting educators appreciated the emphasis on skill-based education in Chandigarh Government Schools, particularly the innovative initiatives being implemented at GMSSS, Sector 38 (West), DMC.

The visit marks the beginning of a meaningful academic partnership aimed at sharing best practices, strengthening professional collaboration, and fostering cross-cultural understanding between educators from India and the United States.
