Chandigarh Police Achieves Major Success-Arrested Drug Peddler and Recovered 2 Kg Heroine Worth 10 Crores

District Crime Cell of Chandigarh Police, under the supervision of SSP/UT Kuldeep Singh Chahal, SP city Shruti Arora, DSP Devender Sharma and Inspector Narinder Patial, achieved major success by arresting a drug Peddler Amit Sharma S/O Ram Kumar Sharma R/O # 16A, Oasis Green, Patiala Road, Zirakpur, Punjab, age 41 years and recovered 2kg and 10 grams Heroin from his possession near turn Ram Darbar, Chandigarh on 6.12.2022 while he was coming from Poultry Farm side in a Honda City Car bearing registration No. CH01B-0507.

This is the major recovery of 2 Kg Heroine by the Chandigarh Police and its International market value is around 10 Crores. The said suspect has been on the radar of District Crime Cell for the last 6 months and during the interrogation of accused arrested in another cases of NDPS, his name frequently came up.

Prior involvement:

During his preliminary interrogation, he disclosed that since 2008-2009 he was involved in a gang of shop-breakings in Distt. Ambala. Around 10 cases of burglary and Dacoity are registered against him. The said accused earlier indulged in the sale of opium and poppy husk. He used to buy opium and poppy husk from Madhya Pradesh and further sale the same. Five cases Under NDPS Act are also registered against him and he is on bail by the Ld Court of Session Judge Ambala (HR).

Education and Background:

He is under Matriculation. Initially he started his business of selling fruit by putting a Rehri infront of Railway station of Ambala (HR). The said accused originally belongs to Saharanpur (U.P) but shifted to Ambala since his childhood. For the purpose of his illegal activity, he purchased  a flat on at Zirakpur (PB). He used to sale heroine in small quantity from Zirakpur and major supply (Large quantity) he himself deliver the consignment in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Himachal. The said consignment was to be delivered in Chandigarh and Kharar (PB). Since the inception of District Crime Cell, 50 cases under NDPS Act against around 55 persons have been registered and most of recovery in commercial quantity. This Cell has also arrested two major suppliers of drugs in Chandigarh namely Poonam and Bala.  The detail interrogation of accused is required to be conducted. Therefore, he will be produced in the court and police remand will be sought.
