Chandigarh Police organized Crime Awareness & Road Safety Training Program for food aggregators

Chandigarh Police organized Crime Awareness & Road Safety Training Program for food aggregators’ delivery persons of Swiggy & Zomato in the Multipurpose Hall, Police Lines, Sector-26 Chandigarh from 12th July to 26th July 2022. Today i.e. on 26.07.2022 was the closing of the workshop and Shruti Arora, IPS, SP/City, UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest on this occasion. Davinder Sharma, DSP/DCC, Insp. Parvesh Sharma, Traffic and Insp. Malkit Singh, were also present during the closing ceremony. Today, approximately 550 delivery boys from Swiggy and Zomato etc were attended the workshop.

The workshop conducted from 12th July to 26 July 2022, this training session has been planned in 8 batches for creating awareness among the delivery persons working with online food delivery apps like Swiggy, Zomato etc.

Kuldeep Chahal, IPS, SSP/UT, Chandigarh inaugurated this training session on 12.07.2022. During the period of the workshop, Ram Gopal, DSP/CID, all SDPOs and other police officers of Chandigarh Police along with Shiva Chaudhary, Sr. Manager (Liaison & IR Deptt.) North Zone and Karan Rana Sr. FM Operations Chandigarh attended and delivered their lectures about Crime Awareness and Road Safety. 

The workshop has been conducted against the backdrop of the point that this delivery person has access to almost every corner/house of the city and it’s delivery dwellers/residents, so they can be very useful for the local police for the prevention and detection of crime. Moreover, while performing duty during late evening and night hours as motor vehicle drivers they will be curbed and will help in reducing road crashes and thus saving precious human lives.

The delivery boys were imparted about the Impact of Mobile phone usage while driving, the importance of wearing proper safety headgear (helmet) with an ISI mark and other road safety rules. They were also made aware of the law covering Good Samaritan, to give a way for Ambulance and other emergency vehicles, to switch off their engines while they waited for the signal to turn green as this helps in saving fuel and decreasing Environment pollution.

Special emphasis was given on No speeding, wrong turn, wrong parking and Rash driving while doing food delivery or coming back for taking another delivery order. During this drive, around 1250 “No Honking” stickers, Literature 5000 & reflective tapes were also distributed among them.  Approximately 1500 delivery boys from Swiggy and Zomato etc were aware of the road safety rules and regulations. All the trainees, as well as senior officers, appreciated this workshop. Pledge has been taken to follow road safety rules and regulations to save human lives.
