Chandigarh Sets Record in Fancy Number Auction, Fetches ₹4.08 Crore

The Office of the Registering & Licensing Authority, UT Chandigarh, has created history with its latest e-auction of fancy and choice vehicle registration numbers from the new series “CH01-DA” (0001–9999) along with leftover numbers from previous series.
Held between August 19–22, 2025, the auction witnessed massive participation, resulting in the sale of 577 registration numbers and generating a record-breaking revenue of ₹4,08,85,000 – the highest ever in Chandigarh’s auction history.
Among the star attractions, the coveted number CH01DA0001 fetched a staggering ₹36.43 lakh, the highest bid ever for a registration number in the city. Other top-winning bids included:
- CH01DA0003 – ₹17.84 lakh
- CH01DA0009 – ₹16.82 lakh
- CH01DA0005 – ₹16.51 lakh
- CH01DA0007 – ₹16.50 lakh
- CH01DA0002 – ₹13.80 lakh
- CH01DA9999 – ₹10.25 lakh
Officials stated that the overwhelming response reflects Chandigarh’s growing craze for premium and fancy registration numbers.
