
Chandigarh Shines in Emergency Response: Ranks 4th Nationwide, Sets Benchmark in Public Safety

In a major boost to urban policing standards, Chandigarh Police has secured the 4th position across India for the fastest emergency response time under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) rankings for April 2026.
As per the latest data, the city recorded an impressive average response time of just 5 minutes 8 seconds, placing Chandigarh among the top-performing regions in the country when it comes to handling emergencies swiftly and efficiently.
Leading the national rankings, Himachal Pradesh emerged as the top performer with a remarkable average response time of 3 minutes 36 seconds. Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu secured the second spot, while Lakshadweep claimed the third position.
Experts emphasize that rapid emergency response is crucial in saving lives, controlling crime, and ensuring public safety during accidents and medical crises. Chandigarh’s strong showing reflects enhanced coordination, efficient deployment, and improved on-ground policing mechanisms.
