“Chandigarh Traffic Police’s Efforts in Managing and Regulating Traffic in 2023”

Chandigarh Traffic Police manage & regulate the traffic to facilitate the general public with smooth movement of vehicles in the city. Further, the traffic rules and regulations have been enforced efficiently to provide a safe and secure flow as well as to curb traffic violations on city roads. During the year 2023, Chandigarh Traffic Police issued 928356 nos. of traffic challans and collected Rs. 10, 35, 11,103/- as fine amount. The details of major traffic challans issued on-spot and through CCTV cameras, speed radars, and handycams & received on social media platforms are as follows:

Further, a total of 3156 persons/drivers have been challaned for violating drunken driving. 1736 Nos of driving licenses have also been recommended for suspension in different violations during the year 2023.

In addition, on 22September 2023, a virtual court was implemented and a total of 9224 Nos of traffic challan have been disposed of online through Virtual Court.
Besides, various awareness programs were conducted for the general public regarding diversion of traffic and precautions while driving i.e. during fog, lane driving, traffic rules & signage, etc.
Furthermore, the drive against traffic violations will continue in the future for the safety and benefit of the public in general on the road.
