On 15th February 2022, the peace of Chandigarh was shattered when Atulaya Healthcare’s centre situated in Sector 11 at about 9.00 am was struck by a dreadful event when property owners Mr. Vinod Singla and Karan Singla accompanied by 12-15 armed goons entered the premises to take illegal possession and control of the same.

They forcefully tried to evacuate the building, physically assaulted the directors, misbehaved with the staff and manhandled the female employees creating an environment of fear and intimidation in the minds of those affected and the visiting patients (CCTV Footage Available). This ruckus lasted for about one and half hours where numerous calls for help were made to the police but to the shock of the helplessness of the people the police didn’t reach the spot for more than an hour. Whereas Police Station -11 is less than 500 metres from the place of the incident. It was shocking to see the attitude of the police force for being so negligent in such a case where the goons entered armed with rods and sticks and could have seriously injured and caused a threat to life.
The whole incident has been captured on the CCTV cameras installed at the premises of the clinic. It must be mentioned that Atulaya health care has been one of the premier clinics of Chandigarh which has been at the forefront in providing the local citizens with Heath services in tough times of the Pandemic. It is surprising to see that even after two days of this horrendous spine chilling incident the police has still not filed a formal FIR, despite several requests by Atulya Healthcare. The law and order situation in a premier city of the country is going from bad to worse and the role of local SHO and police needs to be investigated at the appropriate level stated Anuj Gupta Director Atulaya. It is time for the public to raise their voice as the people of Chandigarh we have to not let Chandigarh become a safe haven for Miscreants and hold the city administration and local police accountable and not play into the hands of influential people with deep pockets quoted Pankaj Kansal Director Atulaya.
The SHO in charge has denied submission of Video Recordings while they have been submitted just after the incident on 15 Feb whereas gathering of information/ evidence/ proof is the first step in any investigation and the duty of the police.
Later, SHO PS-11 confirmed that complaint has been received, we are investigating the said matter and appropriate action would be taken against the defaulters.
