REITERATES COMMITMENT TO SAVE THE WATERS OF RIVER SATLUJ BY ALL MEANS

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann dared the state BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar, Akali Dal Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Congress leaders Partap Singh Bajwa and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring to not forget the sins of their ancestors before shedding crocodile tiles on issue of Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal.

The Chief Minister assailed these leaders for indulging in theatricals to mislead the people of the state. He said that it is a well known fact that the ancestors of these leaders have sown thorns before the Punjab and its younger generations by indulging in this unpardonable crime of constructing the SYL. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for the sake of their vested interests these selfish political leaders had agreed, planned and executed the construction of this canal.

The Chief Minister said that everyone knows that former Union Minister Balram Jakhar (father of Sunil Jakhar) along with Captain Amarinder Singh accompanied the then Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi to perform the groundbreaking ceremony of SYL at Kapuri. Similarly, he said that former Chief Minister of Haryana Chaudhary Devi Lal had hailed his then counterpart in Punjab Parkash Singh Badal for allowing the survey of this canal. Bhagwant Singh Mann the hands of these leaders are drenched with this crime against the state and history will never forgive them for backstabbing Punjab.

The Chief Minister categorically asked Sukhbir Singh Badal to bring the papers of Oberoi Hotel in Gurugram (Gurgaon) before coming to debate on November 1. He unequivocally dared these leaders to also bring along with them the papers of settlement which their parents had signed for the sake of power wielding chairs by deceiving the state and its people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will give a clear picture to the residents of the state as to how they were betrayed in the name of making sacrifices.

The Chief Minister further asked these leaders to not worry about the waters of the state as from childhood his father used to assign him duty for saving the waters for their fields. However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that now with blessings of God, the people of state have bestowed upon him the duty to save the waters of Satluj river, which he will perform meticulously. He said that the state has no water to spare with any other state and waters of Punjab will be preserved by all means.
