The Voice of Chandigarh:
The Green Future Leadership Summit, organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh, witnessed an inspiring address by Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. The summit brought together policymakers, clean energy experts, innovators, and industry leaders from Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh to discuss strategies for accelerating the shift toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable energy future.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh emphasized that clean energy is not merely an option but a responsibility that each one must shoulder. “By investing in solar energy, electric mobility, and sustainable practices, we are not just modernizing infrastructure—we are safeguarding the future of the next generation,” he stated. He reiterated that the time has come to place climate action at the heart of development.

Kataria highlighted India’s progress in the clean energy domain, including surpassing 180 GW of renewable energy capacity as of April 2025. He cited national initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the FAME Scheme, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission as examples of the country’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. He urged all states and UTs to adopt this national vision at the grassroots level through local leadership, technological innovation, and inclusive participation.

During the summit’s valedictory session, the Governor felicitated over 20 government departments and private enterprises from Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh for their outstanding contributions in promoting renewable energy and clean technologies. The honoured organizations represented excellence in electric mobility, solar manufacturing, energy awareness, and institutional capacity building in green energy. These recognitions, he said, reflect the growing commitment of the region toward sustainable development.
The Governor particularly acknowledged the leadership of institutions such as CREST, HAREDA, and PEDA, who are working tirelessly to make clean energy accessible, scalable, and impactful. He encouraged such agencies to continue driving awareness and innovation, especially in semi-urban and rural areas where energy access remains a challenge.

The summit also featured thematic sessions and expert-led panel discussions on solar scalability, EV adoption trends, storage solutions, and the need for supportive regulatory frameworks. The Governor underscored the importance of public-private partnerships, affordable financing for clean energy solutions, and skill development to support the green economy.
