India–France Travel Boost: Visa-Free Airport Transit for Indian Nationals Now in Effect

The Voice of Chandigarh

In a significant move to ease international travel, the French Government has operationalised visa-free transit for Indian nationals passing through French airports located in the European territory.

This development follows a key announcement made by Narendra Modi and Emmanuel Macron during President Macron’s visit to India in February 2026.

Indian citizens transiting exclusively by air through French airports in Europe will no longer be required to obtain an airport transit visa.

The decision reflects the strong and enduring partnership between India and France. It also underscores the commitment of both leaders to deepen bilateral ties and enhance people-to-people connections by facilitating smoother and more convenient travel.
