MCC to de-link collection of garbage charges on commercial properties from Property Tax bills
Mayor calls meeting of traders/industries associations

Extending a big relief to the commercial property owners from paying garbage charges annually for the financial year 2023-24, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has decided to de-link the garbage charges from the property tax bill.
This was decided in a meeting held at MCC office premises under the chairmanship of Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh attended by Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, MCC and various office bearers of traders/industries associations of Chandigarh and other concerned officers of MCC.
During the meeting it was discussed that commercial property owners were facing difficulty to pay the garbage charges annually for the financial year 2023-24, which was linked with the property tax. Keeping in view this as huge burden on their pocket over and above the property tax, the commercial property owners raised this issue that their genuine concern be considered to de-link the garbage charges from the property tax bill for the financial year 2023-24.
The Mayor assured the traders/industries associations to de-link the garbage charges from the property tax bill and take up this issue for detailed discussion and final decision in the ensuing General House meeting with their demand of reducing the garbage charges levied on their properties as well.
It was also decided during the meeting that the MoH office will set up a camp for resolution of all issues related to garbage cess, in the industrial area on 15th and 16th of May
