Music Knows No Age : Mayor Saurabh Joshi Celebrates Live Concert with Senior Citizens

The Voice of Chandigarh

The Senior Citizens Singers and Artists Association (Regd.) organised its first-ever live music singing event at the Sector 50 Community Centre.

Saurabh Joshi, Mayor, Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest, while K.K. Sharda graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Vimal Trikha, President of the Senior Citizens Singers and Artists Association, informed that this was the first live music event held at a community centre. Generally, such live music singing programmes are organised at Tagore Theatre or other auditoriums. However, he said that the association has proved that community centres under the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh are no less than Tagore Theatre these days and are equally well-equipped to host such cultural programmes.

The live singing event held at the Sector 50 Community Centre was a grand success.

On this occasion, Mayor Saurabh Joshi said that stage shows convey positive social messages, and the youth should also organise such events with the help of associations and stage platforms. He assured that community centres will be provided by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, and any kind of assistance required for the Senior Citizens Singers and Artists Association will be extended.

The devotion and enthusiasm of senior citizens towards singing, even at the age of above 60 years, was truly inspiring. Manji, along with his orchestra team, made the show more lively and entertaining.

Mr. Trikha further informed that the next live singing musical event will be held on 21st June at the same venue, where nearly 30 singers will participate and perform songs with Manji’s live orchestra band.
