PM Modi’s Chandigarh Visit: Traffic Diversions Announced, Commuters Advised to Avoid Key Routes Till 3 PM on July 17

The Voice of Chandigarh New:

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chandigarh on July 17, the Chandigarh Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory announcing special traffic arrangements and temporary diversions to ensure smooth movement during the VVIP visit.

According to the advisory, traffic will remain diverted and restricted on July 17 from the Chandigarh–Nayagaon Barrier to PEC Light Point and up to the Sector 2/3/10-11 Chowk. The restrictions will remain in force until 3:00 PM, and commuters have been advised to avoid the affected stretch during this period.

The Traffic Police also stated that additional traffic diversions or restrictions may be imposed on other road stretches depending on the movement of the VVIP convoy.

Residents and commuters have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and use alternate routes to avoid congestion and inconvenience. The public has also been advised to follow the official social media handles of the Chandigarh Traffic Police for real-time traffic updates.

Guests, invitees and officials attending the programme have been requested to park their vehicles only in designated parking areas. The Traffic Police further warned that vehicles parked on cycle tracks, pedestrian pathways or in no-parking zones will face strict legal action, including towing.

Appealing for public cooperation, the Chandigarh Traffic Police said the temporary restrictions are necessary for security arrangements during the Prime Minister’s visit and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to the public.
