Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 210-km-long Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor in Dehradun, terming it a landmark project that will significantly boost connectivity, tourism, and economic growth in Uttarakhand and adjoining regions of North India

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister extended greetings on the occasion of Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu, and Puthandu, and paid obeisance to the sacred land of Devbhoomi. He noted that the upcoming Char Dham Yatra covering Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath holds deep spiritual importance for millions of devotees.

Highlighting the significance of the project, PM Modi stated that the expressway will drastically reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun, lower logistics costs, and improve connectivity to key cities including Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Mussoorie. Built with an investment of around ₹12,000 crore, the corridor has already generated employment for thousands and is expected to open new avenues in trade, logistics, warehousing, and industry across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Underlining the government’s focus on sustainable development, PM Modi highlighted the construction of a nearly 12-kilometre elevated wildlife corridor to ensure safe movement of animals, including elephants, without disturbing their natural habitat. He also urged citizens and tourists to maintain cleanliness and avoid plastic waste in the ecologically sensitive region.
