Fulfilling its final 2022 Assembly election promise, the Punjab Governmentlaunched the Mukh Mantri Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, under which eligible women will receive monthly financial assistance directly in their bank accounts.

Launching the scheme in Dhuri, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the release of the first three months’ instalment. Eligible women received ₹3,000 (₹1,000 per month), while women from the Scheduled Caste category received ₹4,500 (₹1,500 per month) for July to September. Beneficiaries began receiving SMS confirmations during the launch event.

The Chief Minister said over 40 lakh women have already been registered under the scheme, with nearly 97% of Punjab’s women expected to benefit. The state has earmarked ₹9,300 crore in the Budget for the initiative.

Mann said the scheme aims to strengthen women’s financial independence and dignity. Women above 18 years, including those already receiving social security pensions, are eligible for the benefit.

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia described the launch as a “historic milestone,” saying the Punjab Government has fulfilled all its major electoral guarantees while setting a new benchmark in women-centric welfare.

Eligible women can register free of cost through the offline registration process at designated government centres.
