RELEASE OF GAMUT OF BENEFITS AND SERVICES FOR CHILDREN ENROLLED UNDER PMCARES FOR CHILDREN SCHEME

The PM CARES for Children scheme was launched by the Prime Minister of India on 29th May, 2021, which aims to support children who have lost both parents or legal guardian or adoptive parents or surviving parents to COVID-19 pandemic during the period starting from 11 March 2020 and ending on 28th February 2022. The Objective of the scheme is to ensure comprehensive care and protection of children in a sustained manner and enable their well-being through health insurance, empower them through education and equip them for self-sufficient existence with financial support on reaching 23 years of age. Under this scheme, Children are entitled to the following benefits and services:-

❖ A pro-rata amount has been credited in the account of each identified child such that the corpus for each child becomes Rs. of 10 Lakhs at the time of attaining 18 years of age.
❖ Ex- gratia of Rs. 50,000 per deceased parent from state disaster response refund has been provided to 12 children as per direction of MHA at UT Chandigarh.
❖ Under Sponsorship benefits under Mission Vatsalaya (Child Protection services (CPS) scheme of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, GOI children have e received Rs. 2000 per month. Wherein an amount of Rs. 1.34 lacs have been disbursed in the bank accounts of 12 Children in the F.Y 2021-22. Moreover, the amount of Sponsorship has been revised to Rs.4000 per month w.e.f. 1st April 2022 by Ministry of Women and Child Development,GOI.
❖ Children would receive an amount of Rs. 10 lacs on attaining 23 Years of Age
❖ Scholarship of Rs. 20,000 per annum is being provided to school-going children in class 1-12 under the scheme of the ministry of social justice and empowerment.
❖ All children have been enrolled under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PM-JAY) with the health insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per annum per child.
❖ The premium amount for these children till the age of 23 years will be paid by PM CARES.

Today Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has released a whole gamut of benefits and services for Children covered under PMCARES FOR CHILDREN SCHEME through virtual mode. During the event, Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, addressed the Children and gives his blessings to the Children under PMCARES for Children Scheme.

In the event at UT Chandigarh following documents i.e Letter from Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sneh Patra (Certificate of PM CARES), PM Cares for Children Passbook, Health Cards of AB- Pradhan Mantri -Jan Arogya Yojna (PM-JAY), Wrist watches along with Shoulder bags were handed over to 12 Children by Sh. Banwarilal Purohit , Hon’ble Administrator ,UT Chandigarh at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Public Administration Sector-26 UT, Chandigarh. The said program has been attended by the dignitaries i.e. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament as Guest of Honour, Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, UT Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Pratap Singh, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Central, and Secretaries as well as Directors of departments of Health, Education and Social Welfare, other representatives from Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, District Child Protection Unit, District Education office, & Chairperson, Chandigarh Commission For Protection of Child Rights. Moreover, the Deputy Mayor and Councillors of the Municipal Corporation have been attended the program and gave their good wishes to the Children.

In UT Chandigarh,12 Children have been identified as beneficiaries under PM CARES for Children Scheme by the District Child Protection Unit under the supervision of the District Magistrate. Moreover, these children are getting financial benefits of Rs. 4000/-(per month )- as sponsorship under Mission Vataslya .In addition to the PMCARES for Children Scheme,Children are also getting financial assistance of Rs. 5000/- per month under PARVARISH SCHEME of Chandigarh Administration. District Child Protection Unit has identified 287 Children under PARVARISH Scheme till date and disbursed 1.30 crore in the bank accounts of beneficiaries under the PARVARISH SCHEME.
