Sector 26 SHO Sent to Police Lines After ₹2.5 Lakh Bribery Case; Inspector Sarita Roy Given Additional Charge

In the first administrative action following the alleged ₹2.5 lakh bribery case involving Chandigarh Police personnel, Inspector Ram Rattan Sharma, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector 26 Police Station, has been transferred to the Police Lines with immediate effect.

Inspector Sarita Roy, SHO of Sector 19 Police Station, has been assigned the additional charge of Sector 26 Police Station until further orders.

The administrative action comes in the wake of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) allegedly arresting Inspector Suresh Kumar, In-charge of Bapu Dham Police Post, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bhagat Singh while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2.5 lakh. Both officials were posted under the jurisdiction of Sector 26 Police Station at the time of the alleged offence.

According to departmental sources, the incident was viewed as a serious supervisory lapse within the jurisdiction of Sector 26 Police Station. It was considered that the Station House Officer also bore supervisory responsibility over the functioning of the police station and its subordinate units.

Based on this assessment, senior police authorities ordered the immediate transfer of Inspector Ram Rattan Sharma to the Police Lines as a departmental administrative measure, pending further proceedings in connection with the case.
