Women Journalist Conclave 2026 : Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann Encourages Women Journalists to Work Fearlessly

The Women Journalist Conclave 2026 and Media Excellence Awards were successfully organized by Disha Women Welfare Trust and the Indian Women Journalists Association under the leadership of President Hardeep Kaur at Hyatt Centric, Sector 17, Chandigarh. Around 150 women journalists from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh participated in the event.
The conclave was themed “Education, Society and Women Empowerment” and focused on strengthening the role of women in media and society.
Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, attended as Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, she praised the courage and dedication of women journalists and encouraged them to work fearlessly. She assured support in raising issues related to women journalists’ working conditions and welfare.
Hardeep Kaur proposed the institution of a “Fourth Pillar of Democracy Award” to recognize outstanding women journalists. Dr. Mann appreciated the proposal and assured that the matter would be discussed with the government.
Several distinguished personalities from the fields of education, media and social service attended as Guests of Honour. Media professionals also participated in panel discussions on digital media, women’s safety, leadership and social development.
Media Excellence Awards were presented to individuals and organizations for their contributions to media and society. A special highlight was the felicitation of participating women journalists with traditional Phulkari as a mark of respect.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Hardeep Kaur, who stated that the conclave would continue to serve as a strong platform for empowering women journalists.
