Workshop on Student Police Cadet Programme was organized at Traffic Auditorium, Traffic & Security Lines, Sector-29, Chandigarh. Praveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of this workshop. P.Vijayan, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Coastal Security Kerala and Saif Mohmmad consultant of UNICEF were the chief guest speakers. They enlightened the session on the Student Police Cadet (SPC) Programme which was has been implemented in different schools of Kerala. P.Vijayan, IPS, Inspector General of Police is the Chief Architect of national acclaimed projects such as SPC, Child-Friendly Police Stations, our responsibilities to children and project hope at Kerala.
The Student Police Cadet (SPC) Programme is a school-based youth development initiative that trains high school students to evolve as
future leaders of a democratic society by inculcating within them respect for the law, discipline, civic sense, empathy for vulnerable sections of society and resistance to social evils. It also enables youth to explore and develop their innate capabilities, thereby empowering them to resist the growth of negative tendencies such as social intolerance, substance abuse, deviant behavior, and anti-establishment violence. Equally, it strengthens within them commitment towards their family, the community, and the environment.
Chandigarh Police has already implemented this SPC programme. Presently 10 govt. Schools have been identified for this programme. The Teachers of the said schools also shared their experiences about the SPC programme. Chandigarh Police specially organised this workshop to build a bridge between the Police and the community by inculcating values and ethics in the school going students through indoor and outdoor classes and activities.
During this workshop, Omveer Singh Bishnoi, IPS, IGP, UT, Chandigarh, Deepak Purohit, IPS, DIG Prisons, Chandigarh, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS, SSP/UT, Chandigarh Ms. Manisha Choudhary, IPS, SSP/Security & Traffic, Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, SSP/Hqrs. & Vigilance,
Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/City-cum-Nodal Officer SPC, Shuruti Arora, IPS, ASP/South, all SDPOs, all SHOs and 02 NGOs from each Police Stations
and teachers of the 10 Govt. Schools were present in the above-said workshop.
