BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION AND EMBASSY OF UKRAINE UNITED BY MUSIC IN JOINT EUROVISION EVENT

Dozens of guests will join Deputy High Commissioner Christina Scott and Ukraine’s Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Ivan Konovalov this evening (13 May) for a reception at the British High Commissioners’ Residence to celebrate ‘The Spirit of Eurovision 2023’. The event will honour the competition’s spirit and diversity, showcasing British and Ukrainian music and culture.

The theme of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is ‘United by Music’. The new slogan demonstrates the unique partnership between the UK, Ukraine and host city Liverpool to bring the event to audiences across the globe and celebrate the incredible power of music to bring people together.

Guests at this evening’s reception will be served a Ukrainian and British menu, and enjoy the sounds of a Ukrainian musician playing Ukrainian and British songs. Screens will show winning Ukrainian and UK entries from previous years. The High Commissioner’s residence will be lit up in the colours of both countries’ flags to demonstrate the UK’s ongoing support for Ukraine.

Christina Scott, British Deputy High Commissioner to India, said: “It is an honour to host this reception alongside our Ukrainian friends. Eurovision is a celebration of diversity and the incredible power of music to bring communities together.”

Ivan Konovalov, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Embassy of Ukraine, said: “It is a pleasure to share victories with the people of the UK. We have another victory to achieve together and I am confident we will. We are united for a better future.”
