Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police has got major success by arresting the Interstate Gang of Cheaters

The team of the Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police headed by SI Neeraj Kumar under the supervision of Insp. Harinder Singh Sekhon and close guidance of Udaypal Singh, DSP Crime has got major success by arresting the Interstate Gang of Cheaters, who used to cheat innocent people outside the Bank.

Brief Facts

            Recently on 26 August 2021, an incident took place outside the PNB Bank, Sector 16, Chandigarh in which two persons took the cash Rs. 50000/- from one Prem Lal and previously in the month of Feb 2020  this gang also cheated one Mahesh Kumar outside the PNB Bank, Burial, Chandigarh and taken away Rs. 29000/-.

      The Crime Branch team started collecting the information about the activities of this gang from every spot, from where they duped innocent people. With analyzing the Modus Operandi and incident pattern got a big success by apprehending following two persons of this gang:-

1. Mohd. Rasool S/o Akbar Miyan r/o Saketri, Pkl, Aged 36, Permanent Add: VPO Mathurapur Teh/PS-Turkauliya Distt. East Champaran, Motihari, Bihar
2. Parmod Dass S/o Gulten Dass R/o Saketri, Pkl, Aged 30, Permanent Add:- Vill. Sirsiyan, PO. Damodarpur, Teh. Chakiya, PS-Pipra Distt. Motihari, Bihar.

Modus Operandi

            Accused used to visit banks and search the prey (mostly innocent and uneducated persons) who has some amount to deposit in bank. They used to ask him to fill the form as they did not know how to fill it. During conversation they allure innocent people on the pretext that if they can deposit their amount in bank and in lieu of that huge amount whatever amount they have with them they may give to the accused as guarantee.

An innocent person falls into the trap and handed over his money to them. In exchange they also handed over a bundle of notes wrapped in handkerchiefs, which are actually pieces of paper covered top and bottom with actual currency notes.

      During interrogation they disclosed that they had duped many people in Panchkula, Pinjore, Badhi, Sector-71 Mohali and Zirakpur also.
