Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management celebrated “World Tourism Day”, in the institute premises with great fervour & zeal

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management (an autonomous body under Ministry of tourism, Government of India), a leading institute providing hospitality education celebrated “World Tourism Day“, in the institute premises with great fervour & zeal.

World Tourism Day is an annual observance that is focused on promoting tourism in various parts of the world. The theme for this year’s World Tourism Day is “Rethinking Tourism“. In this regard, the institute organised many competitions which were held on Inter College level. Around 200 students participated from various colleges like MCM DAV,  GCG 42, GCG -11, KV schools and many more colleges of the city participated in making this event a great success.

Keeping in mind the great old saying “Athithi Devo Bhava” which literally means “Guest is God”, the student of institute visited the Chandigarh Airport and Rock Garden and overwhelmed the passengers by giving them a rose bud and wishing them “Happy Tourism Day” with a warm smile. Around 100 students of the Institute also displayed a great passion for tourism while participating in “Run for Tourism” at Sukhna Lake organised by Chandigarh Administration.

The competition which were organised to celebrate this occasion were:

  • Poster Making Competition
  • Best Out of Waste Competition
  • Fresh Flower Arrangement Competition
  • Rangoli Making Competition

A cake demonstration was done for the participants.

The judges for the said event were Ms Jeetika Nanra, Head Human Resource Hotel The Taj Chandigarh and Mr. Harpreet L-D Manager of Taj Hotel, Ms. Bhoomika Kanaujiya, Training Manager Hotel Radisson Red Mohali. The Judges had a difficult time in deciding the winners as the competition was quite tough among the creative young generation of various Chandigarh colleges.

One of the student from MCM DAV said “It was a great experience competing with people from different colleges and the positive spirit of competition overwhelming the environment”.

Mr. Sitesh Srivastava, Principal of our Institute said “Inter-college competition are always a great motivator and our institute always focus on promoting competiting spirits among the students”.

All the participants were offered Tea and Refreshment after the competition.

Mr.Sitesh Srivastava, principal concluded the event with a vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to all the participants from different colleges.
