As the Chairman of the New Delhi Institute of Management, he is leading a high-powered board comprising several distinguished individuals, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awardees. The board also consists of former Chief Secretaries and Secretaries of the Government of India, including the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Chairman of UPSC, Advisor and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, Member of Parliament, and former Union Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu, a former Judge of the Supreme Court, and a serving Additional Solicitor General of India. He proudly shared that his role involves working with this board to ensure that the institute provides the best education and employment opportunities for our students.

The other notable achievements include the relocation of Nangal Dewat village to Vasant Kunj, without this act, new terminals at IGIA which were stuck up for decades could have never been possible.

He was the person who took the initiative and cleared heavy encroachments by renowned hoteliers and notorious land mafias at Bombay Airport.  He also handled nationwide strikes of transport workers in Punjab and other resettlement unions in slum areas of   Delhi.


Dr. V. M. Bansal’s initiatives to plug “Industry-Academia,” was quite remarkable in the true sense when gaps were narrowed down in higher education for better employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for everyone. For the first time under his leadership, any MBA school (New Delhi Institute of Management) has been declared as the Mentor Business School for the entire country by the Government of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry.

His extraordinary initiatives on connecting industry with academia have resulted in NDIM being the first-ever B-school of India, rated the best simultaneously by all the apex national industry chambers of the country, ASSOCHAM, CII, in addition to the AICTE, Government of India, for “Finest Employment Opportunities & Best Industry Linkages” out of 1900 plus AICTE approved institutions of higher learning in the country.


One of his most memorable experiences was taking over the famous Kali Temple of Patiala from the age-old Mahants at the age of 24 years and being the Special Magistrate for the entire Punjab at the age of 28. Another experience was being nationally acclaimed by the Chief Information Commissioner of India for setting up the most transparent and biggest RTI network in India DDA and being the only officer in India called upon by the CIC to address all the Information Commissioners of all the States and Union Territories of the Country at their first annual convention at Vigyan Bhawan in 2009.
