The Voice of Chandigarh

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced development projects worth ₹177 crore for Batala, focusing on infrastructure, roads, and public facilities while launching a strong political attack on previous governments.

The projects include ₹95.72 crore by the Municipal Corporation, ₹16.05 crore by the Mandi Board, and ₹65.09 crore for road construction by PWD. Additional repair works worth over ₹75 crore are also planned. Key developments feature new bridges, a modern bus stand to ease traffic, and ₹14.81 crore for new police lines.

Calling this a “break from past regimes,” Mann accused earlier Akali-Congress governments of corruption and weakening laws related to beadbi. He said the Punjab government has passed the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026, ensuring stricter punishment for such offences and safeguarding communal harmony.

Taking a dig at opposition parties, Mann alleged they were disconnected from people and focused on family interests. He claimed past leaders misused power, encouraged mafias, and failed to address public welfare.

Highlighting achievements, Mann said his government is providing 300 units of free electricity, daytime power for farmers, over 65,000 government jobs, and cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh under health schemes.

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia also praised Mann’s leadership, calling him a pro-people Chief Minister focused on development and welfare.
