LOT POLISH AIRLINES TO JOIN IATA 25by2025

The Voice of Chandigarh | Travel Trade Reporter:

LOT Polish Airlines joined IATA’s 25by2025 program aimed at increasing the professional activity among women in all areas of the aviation industry. LOT Polish Airlines formally joined the initiative at the annual IATA conference in Istanbul. The commitment undertaken by LOT Polish Airlines is a testament to the policy of equal employment, which the national carrier has been following for many years.

At least 25% of women or a 25% increase in the share of women in particular specialist branches. That is the aim pursued by the participants in the 25by2050 program launched by IATA – (International Air Transport Association). Apart from LOT Polish Airlines, the initiative has been joined by 175 airlines all over the world.

LOT Polish Airlines have been following an inclusive employment policy, one that is open to gender balance and diversity, for years now.

Suffice it to say, women constitute 50% of the management board and make up the majority of the carrier’s entire team. Women make up 100% of the Crew Support and Administration Department and 84% of the Cabin Crew Management Office. However, there is still much to do in some departments or areas of the airlines’ operations, which are stereo typically considered “male”: women make up only 3% of the Technical Operations Office and 22% of the Technical Coordination Office.

In 2022, as many as 111 men and as few as 8 women obtained a commercial pilot license. I hope that the statistics will become more balance as a result of LOT Polish Airlines joining 25by2025, explains Katarzyna Lewandowska, President of the Management Board at LOT Polish Airlines.

It is high time we changed the stereotypes and the way we perceive some aviation professions to be typically male. We encourage ladies not only to work in cockpits of our aircraft but also to become mechanics or aviation engineers, adds Katarzyna Piskorz, Member of the Management Board, Chief Corporate Officer.

Research shows that companies taking care of gender balance and diversity have a higher increase in revenue.

More ideas are generated and a level of creativity and innovation increases in a diverse working environment.

It is also an incredibly crucial aspect that increases employees’ motivation and their commitment to their duties. In a proper diverse working environment, employees evaluate the prospects for development much better and have a higher level of acceptance and belonging to the organization.
