Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School 26 Chandigarh hosted 3 Days Annual Function from 8\11\2023 to 10\11\2023 titled ‘Veerangana- An Epitome of Valour’. celebrating and remembering  the courageous spirit of Rani Laxmi Bai, who was a pioneer in women empowerment, taking a pledge to continue the legacy of empowerment and strive to make the dreams a reality and being the change-makers that the world needs.

The significance of this magnum opus was heightened by the fact that this event served as a splendid showcase of the remarkable efforts put forth by the very heartbeat of Sacred Heart – the students, proudly known as The Heartians!

The Annual Function, was divided into three days. Day 1 presented by the Junior Wing, Day 2 by students of class 8th and 9th and class 5th, 6th and 7th concluded the event on Day 3. The function on three days started off with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, letting  the light leading  to a journey filled with knowledge, wisdom and courage. It was followed by ISH-VANDANA – a PRAYER DANCE and the address by the Principal Reverend Sister Arti, not just a Principal but a mentor par excellence, the guiding light, a pillar of wisdom, and the beacon of inspiration to all who are part of Sacred Heart.

Dr. Shvetta Arora, a name synonymous with unwavering dedication and profound expertise in the realm of education, currently serving as the esteemed Regional Officer at the CBSE Regional Office in Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on Day 1 and Captain Manisha Pathania was invited as Guest of Honour,a distinguished alumna of Sacred Heart School.

On day 2, Mr. Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, PCS Director School Education, Chandigarh, presided as the  Chief Guest. Ms Bindu Arora, DEO, Chd and Dr S.K Setia, IA, Former DPI Chandigarh as esteemed Guests of Honour.

Coming to day 3 Major General Inderjit Singh, a living embodiment of valour, leadership, and unwavering dedication to our nation, was the Chief Guest.

The distinguished Chief Guests and Guests of Honour were given green token of gratitude,a robe of honour and memento respectively.

Post which, with the great honour and pride the magnum opus  “Veerangana”: The Epitome of Valour” was narrated by the heartians through their acting skills presenting various ups and downs in the life of Rani Lakshmibai backed up by dances showcasing her journey  from her birth till her The show was a salute to the legacy of the brave and inspirational Rani Laxmi Bai.She was not just a queen, but a symbol of courage and determination who did not buckle under pressure and declared that she will fight for independence.She fearlessly fought for her people and her land, proving that women are not just capable of being leaders but can also be exceptional ones. Sacred Heart  wholeheartedly encourages its  girls to dream ambitiously, exert relentless effort, and embrace fearlessness in their quest for knowledge and success.

Towards the end of the play, the audience was enthralled by bhangra presented by different groups on three days. The programme ended with the rendition of the national anthem.

Apart on day 3, Manika Mahajan, a true sports champion who has not only excelled in academics but has also showcased unparalleled dedication and talent in the world of sports was honored . It  was  indeed a momentous occasion to  felicitate Manika Mahajan, a student of Class 12A, for her remarkable achievements in the realm of sports. This talented young athlete brought glory and immense pride to the Sacred Heartians and to the nation at the 19th Asian Roller Skating Championship 2023 held in China from October 18th to 28th.Competing in the Senior Girls category, Manika showcased her incredible skills,earning a well-deserved Bronze medal. Her dedication and talent exemplify the spirit of excellence we foster at the school.

In the spirit of the  commitment to nurturing strong, resilient girls, it is evident to draw parallels

between Manika and the iconic Veerangana Rani Lakshmi Bai. Just as Rani LakshmiBai exemplified courage and determination, Manika showcases these qualities in the realm of sports.She receive the well-deserved recognition from Rev. Sr. Arti and the esteemed Chief Guest Major General Inderjit Singh and got felicitated with a garland,a trophy and a medal.

The Chief Guests and Guests of Honour in their respective addresses applauded the school for the immense hard work that went behind the show lending a message  that Veerangna is a journey that  each one  must strive to empower women and give every little girl the opportunity and encouragement to find her footing. Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School Chd works towards the same  through which they ceaselessly mould every Heartian into a woman of substance giving the impetus every girl needs to create an identity and embrace life boldly with dignity and joy .Fearless, righteous and strong in the face of adversity.
